Looker’s core strength is its semantic layer. Data teams write LookML models that define business logic once, and all queries run through that layer, keeping numbers consistent across the organization. Google has added AI-assisted exploration and natural language features on top, though these are still maturing. There is no built-in evaluation workflow for AI answers. The platform is priced per seat and typically requires enterprise contracts. dbt integration exists via dbt Semantic Layer but has limitations in scope.
